About

Why Maho Noir?
The title is a layered one. Noir means black, evoking not only the shadowy aesthetic of classic detective fiction but also the tone– moody, morally gray, and grim. Maho is often used to describe forbidden or corrupting sorcery– black magic.

What is Maho Noir?
Maho Noir is a webcomic that mixes magic, mystery, and moody alleyways. If you like your detective stories with a touch of spellcraft and a heavy coat of noir atmosphere, you’re in the right place.

The story follows Ran, a private investigator with a sharp eye and more baggage than a train station, as she navigates a modern fantasy city full of hidden dangers and bad decisions. Expect necromancers, inquisitors, blackmail, strange artifacts, and the occasional undead punch-up.

This comic runs in seasonal arcs and updates when life and my other comics give it room to breathe. If you’re caught up, the best way to stay in the loop is to follow along on socials or RSS for new drops.

Thanks for reading, and welcome to the foggy corners of Maho Noir.

Maho Noir is inspired by film noir and supernatural detective fiction. While the story touches on adult themes– such as trauma, blackmail, and occasional sexual tension or situations– no nudity is shown on this site. (Bonus content on platforms like Patreon or paywalled sources may not follow this guideline.)
